Cadets from 1861 Wantage Squadron Air Training Corps recently took part in the annual Thames Valley Wing swimming competition, against other local squadrons. The squadron entered a team of 8 cadets and came away with a haul of 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze medal. Cadet Griffin, Corporal Salter, Cadet Griffin, Cadet Pettifer, Sergeant Matthews, Cadet Batten, Cadet Bulpin and Cadet Lemmon are pictured with their haul of medals.
Officer Commanding Flight Lieutenant Nigel Furlong said: “Wantage cadets are now the talk of the Wing. To win 10 medals in this competition is a fantastic success and a reflection of the commitment and enthusiasm of these cadets. They can be very proud.”
The squadron has recently been successful in a range of activities, including BTEC Public Services, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, flying, gliding and sports.
